SLEEK WHIMSICAL WONDERLAND RANGE

22 May
Sleek has recently made it's way up to being one of my favourite make up brands and when I heard about this gorgeous new pastel range I could not wait to try it out. I was extremely lucky to have been taken along to the launch of their Whimsical Wonderland Collection and I am super excited to give you a preview of this gorgeous range that launches in June 2016.

This range is inspired by a fair ground which I love - all the shades are super pretty and if you're a pastel shade lover like I am then you won't be able to resist!

Let's start with my favourite part of the collection - the Lip VIP Semi-Matte Lipsticks. All 3 of these lipstick shades are absolutely stunning! They're all very individual colours, however they're equally as pretty. The 3 shades available are Big Shot (purple), Fancy Pants (orange) and Hot Tottie (pink). I love the formulation of these lipsticks, as they're only semi-matte they are extremely moisturising on the lips and the colour intensity is incredible.

(Top Left to Bottom Right - Carousel, Shoot The Chutes, Loop The Loop, Ferris Wheel, Twister, Teacups, Hit The Bell, Swing Boats, Hook A Duck, Helter Skelter, Dodgems, Hall Of Mirrors)

Next up is the All The Fun Of The Fair Eyeshadow Palette. This palette is made up of 12 pastel shades, 6 Shimmers and 6 Mattes. I must say this palette is completely out of my comfort zone but the colours are just so pretty i'm going to make sure I get a lot of use out of it this summer! I think I will definitely use the mattes along my bottom lashes to add a pop of colour to a lot of makeup looks and then the shimmers more on my lid.

Finally is the Sweet Cheeks. I have always avoided cream blushes and i'm not entirely sure why! The formulation of these 3 is so smooth they literally glide on and blend beautifully. There are again 3 colours and they are; Hullabaloo (pink), Tomfoolery (purple) and Lickety-Split (orange). My favourite out of these is definitely Tomfoolery - it looks pinker on the skin than the tube, it's just gives such a gorgeous sheer pop of colour on the cheeks.

Like I said at the beginning of this post, this gorgeous range will be available in June 2016 and I hope you love it as much as I do!

BEAUTY BLOGGER AWARD

15 May

A huge thank you to Megan from LifeWithMCM for nominating me. You should check out her blog if you haven't already!

THE RULES ARE -
TAG AND THANK WHO NOMINATED YOU.
RESPOND TO THE QUESTIONS.
NOMINATE 10 NEW BLOGGERS.
CREATE 10 NEW QUESTIONS FOR THESE BLOGGERS.
LET THEM KNOW YOU HAVE NOMINATED THEM.

Let's get onto Megan's questions:

1. Where are you from?
I'm from a small town called Bishops Stortford in Hertfordshire.

2. What made you start blogging?
A lot of my spare time is spent either reading blogs or watching youtube videos and I thought it would be fun to have my own blog so I could share my own opinions on products and have fun with it - also a lot of my friends were telling me to just go for it.

3. What is your one must-have beauty product?
I'm going to say mascara - with or without a full face of make up this always makes me look more awake! Mascara is also the only product I tend to wear when i'm on holiday too, it's a definite must have.

4. What product disappointed you the most?
L'oreal Infallible 24H-Matte Foundation. This foundation is spoken about a lot on blogs that I follow so I was super excited to try it out but it does not work with my skin AT ALL, to me this was such a waste of money!

5. What is your favourite thing about blogging?
I love how friendly everyone in the blogging community is! I just love that I have my own page to write my own opinion on products and theres absolutely no pressure - it's the perfect hobby.

6. If you could work with any brand, which one would it be?
I think either Too Faced, Urban Decay or Nars, the majority of the make up that I own is one of these three brands - they're such amazing quality products.

7. Is there a product you lusted over for so long and purchased, but actually never use?
I'm generally pretty good at using everything I buy however I must say Benefit High Beam is collecting a little dust in my drawer. I bought it around a year ago and I have used it once since, I just find that it moves any make up I already have on so I tend to steer clear and stick with powder highlighters.

8. Which social media platform do you go to for inspiration?
I think my number 1 'go-to' is Instagram, however I have fallen back in love with Pinterest when it comes to finding inspiration for make up looks!

9. Lipstick or lip gloss?
Lipstick 100%, I feel naked without it.

10. What is your favourite ever beauty trend?
Just like a lot of people, I love the whole warm smoky eye, winged liner and a deep or nude lip. It can complete any outfit and it's certainly the look I feel most confident in.

I NOMINATE -

MAKE UP DO'S & DON'TS

03 May
Makeup do's and don'ts are one of my favourite things to watch on youtube, I find them so fascinating and they definitely helped me as I got more into makeup. I am in NO way a professional I just thought it would be a fun post for me to write and give you guys some lil tips as to how I do my makeup, but by all means if you prefer the don'ts then you go right ahead and do whatever you prefer. Please ignore me if you disagree with what I have said in this post - everyone has their own opinions!

Now I've got that little disclaimer out of the way let's get onto the tips:

As you can see there isn't a major difference between each side of my face however there are a few things I like to do that make my makeup slightly more flattering for my face.

First thing being very obvious and that is FOUNDATION SHADE - A lot of people colour match their foundation to the backs of the hand but this is actually a different colour to the face, you should ideally colour match along your jawline if possible.

FOUNDATION APPLICATION - I personally cannot stand applying foundation with my fingers, even though I wash my hands before applying my makeup I always feel like any dirt on my fingers is going to find its way into my pores and no one wants that. Also when applying foundation with your fingers you will not get an even application and may end up appearing patchy. I personally find using a damp beauty blender or cosmetic sponge to pat the foundation onto my skin gives me the most flawless finish.

TACKY BASE - If you leave your foundation damp and do not powder it at all it will cause the bronzer to stick to the first areas you apply it to which may leave your skin looking muddy and not evenly blended, I personally like to powder all over my skin lightly to avoid this happening. Another quick tip for once you've powdered, in order to get a light natural contour you can simply hold a makeup brush/debit card/piece of paper, anything along your cheek bone and lightly dust your bronzer over it to create a soft contour line.

BROWS - Eyebrows are one of the first things people will notice on your face nowadays and making them 'boxy' is going to make it extremely obvious that it isn't your natural brow. Instead it is important you find a powder/cream/pencil product which matches the colour of your hair or eyebrows which ever you prefer and follow the natural line of your brows. I use a disposable mascara wand which I was given by a makeup counter a little while ago just to brush through to make my brows even more natural looking.

BLUSHER - When applying blusher you should create a 'tick' shape with your hand, point your index finger to the top of your ear and your thumb should follow your nose to your eye, this will ensure you have the perfect space between your nose and blush.

BLENDING EYESHADOW - I used to be absolutely terrible at blending my eyeshadow until I got my hands on a MAC 217 brush and this has honestly changed my life! Another thing which will help eyeshadow blending is the correct transition shade, choosing a colour that is a lot darker than your skin tone is just going to make things a lot harder for you. I find that on my skin tone a soft light brown/caramel colour works perfectly.

CAT EYE LINER - A winged liner is there to make the eyes look longer and bigger and creating a chunky tick pointing up instead of out is just going to make the eye appear smaller and darker.

SPIDER LASHES - Applying too many layers of mascara is just going to end up clumping and crumbling. A definite DO is invest in an eyelash primer, I would recommend the Urban Decay Subversion - I notice such a difference in my lashes every time I wear this.

Finally OVER DRAWN LIPS - I think every girl is guilty of over drawing their lips a little from time to time however I find that if I over do it you can actually see my natural lip line through the lipstick which makes me look like a clown. I have done a full post on how to perfect your pout without getting clown lips here.
