As
much as I love a full face of glam, when i'm on holiday that is the last thing
I want on my skin. Over the years I have gradually quartered the amount of make
up I take on holiday with me - 1. my suitcase always weighs enough anyway &
2. I used to pack a lot of 'might use' products yet I never used half of what I
brought. Finally at the age of 23 I can say that I have got my 'holiday glow'
products down to 5 (with a few added extras for if we're going somewhere a
little more fancy). The goal when it comes to my holiday evening make up is
moisture, glow and well just more glow. Although I am very strict with wearing
factor 50 on my face, sometimes after one too many dips in the pool without
re-applying and the added chlorine, my skin tends to feel tighter than it would
back home so I like to add as much moisture as I can before going in with any
products. Most evenings after my post sunbathing nap I want the quickest 'i
woke up like this' naturally dewy look and these 5 products are perfect.
Starting
with a little more moisture even after my moisturiser - I love to use the Laura Mercier Foundation Primer as it is so refreshing and hydrating but it doesn't
feel like your wearing an added layer of product as it's water based not
silicone. It's a lovely start to a flawless base for the products to follow
thanks to it's 'soft focus' effect. Her hydrating primer is aimed at dry/normal
skin and I can often get quite oily, especially in humid temperatures but it
works perfectly so I'd still recommend this if you get oily.
The
next two products are blended into one step as I like to use them together - of
course you knew I was going to mention Charlotte Tilbury somewhere if i'm
talking about dewy/glowy skin didn't you? Brightening Youth Glow and the Unisex Healthy Glow Tinted Moisturiser are beautiful together - on their own too - but
together is just something else. I take a small pump of each on the back of my
hand, lightly mix them with my finger and then apply it directly onto my skin
using my hands to buff it in. The tinted moisturiser comes out of the tube a
whitish colour and morphs to your own individual skin tone - along with a few
tan pigments so I wouldn't go overboard if you're a similar skin tone to me as
my face will drastically no longer match my neck if I do. With the colour correcting pearlescent youth glow and the hydration and tint from the tinted moisturiser you can already imagine how good this makes your skin look can't
you? You don't necessarily need both the Laura Mercier primer and the Youth glow
but like I said - on holiday I am all for the added moisture and their both
such lovely & beneficial products for the skin.
No
matter how rested I am on my holiday, my under eyes bags won't ever leave my
side so of course my next must have is concealer. As the rest of the make up is
so natural and skin-kind I don't like to go in with a heavy concealer as it
won't sit nicely, instead I love the Primark My Perfect Colour Concealer - it's
only £2 and brightens up my under eyes just enough to hide the circles without
looking cakey or like it's even there. It contains Vitamin E and Aloe Vera so
its beneficial for any slightly burnt bits on the face. In my case it's always
my nose so I will pop a little on there to get the healing process going.
Just in case that wasn't enough glow, I then set
it all in place with Mac Fix+ Goldlite as not only does it contain pearlescent
particles which glow beautifully on the skin, it actually keeps the make up in
place the whole evening. When I follow this routine at home I use the Rose Fix+
as it is just as hydrating and leaves the skin looking dewy just without the
golden specs.
I sometimes even spritz the Fix+ over my sunscreen before sunbathing/for a
little refresh during the day to keep my skin hydrated. If I am aiming for the
most minimal I will just finish it with some lip gloss, mascara and brow gel but if I am
going for dinner or just want something a little more I will add some false
lashes, and the bronze, blush and highlight from the Becca x Chrissy Teigen
palette and i'm good to go.
What
are your holiday make up staples?
